Lawsuit filed over alleged norovirus at Tacoma restaurant

State public health care plan clears Washington House

A woman who ate at a Tacoma restaurant and later became ill has filed a lawsuit.

KOMO-TV reported Friday that Erika Cecchi of Tacoma ate at El Toro on Jan. 2 and became ill the following day, according to the lawsuit filed Friday in Pierce County Superior Court.

The lawsuit says lab results confirmed that she had norovirus and that she experienced symptoms for several days.

The Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department briefly closed the El Toro Restaurants in Tacoma and University Place after people who ate there complained of becoming ill.

Health officials suspect norovirus and to date 434 people have reported becoming ill.

El Toro executive manager Ruben Arias Jr. said he couldn’t comment on the lawsuit because his company hasn’t been served with it but said they empathize with all guests who were affected.
