Man threatens deputies, SWAT team during his arrest in Kootenai County

KOOTENAI COUNTY, ID — Authorities were on the scene of a physical domestic dispute at a home in Kootenai County.
Deputies from the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office responded to the report at a home on Prairie Avenue near Meyer Road. They found a female victim who told deputies that she was hit by a table thrown at her by a man, who was later identified as 42-year-old Christopher Wilburn.
Deputies attempted to contact him at the home, saying the male was not cooperating and threatened deputies, refusing to leave the home.
The Kootenai County Joint Agency SWAT team was later called to the scene. Wilburn told deputies he had several propane tanks set up inside the home, threatening SWAT members and deputies with a bat, not following commands. The SWAT team eventually took Wilburn into custody. He was charged with aggravated battery and resisting arrest. He was taken to the Kootenai County Jail. Additional charges may be added as deputies continue investigating.
Wilburn was arrested before, dating back to 2002, for charges including burglary, malicious injury to property and obstructing.
The female victim had injuries to her leg.
This is the second time in the last three days that the swat team has been sent out. They were sent out on Thursday to help the U.S. Marshall’s Office with a wanted felon at a home in Post Falls.
