Kitsap road crew says dam beaver has to go
PORT ORCHARD, Wash. — Kitsap County road crews have had it with a beaver that persists in building a dam under a bridge on Long View Road near Port Orchard.
Crews have removed a beaver dam three times since August. Each time the beaver rebuilds it. One was 40 feet long and 3 feet high.
County Roads Superintendent Jacques Dean told KOMO he appreciates how busy the animals are, but the water threatens to undermine bridge abutments.
The county decided to spend $15,000 to hire a beaver trapper.
