King County Sheriff’s Office: Woman had weapon before fatal shooting

The King County Sheriff’s Office says a woman who was fatally shot in her Auburn home pointed a handgun at deputies before they fired.

The Seattle Times reports that according to a timeline of the incident released Monday, deputies found 23-year-old Renee Davis holding a handgun and an ammunition magazine before she was fatally shot on Oct. 21.

The deputies entered the home on Muckleshoot tribal property after receiving a report that Davis could be suicidal and armed.

Sheriff’s officials say Davis refused commands to put the weapon down and pointed it at the deputies. At that point, both deputies fired. After the shooting, investigators determined that the magazine was fully loaded, though the semi-automatic 9-mm gun itself was empty.
