Keep track of where your kids are with these school bus apps

SPOKANE, Wash. — It’s never been easier for you to keep track of your kids once they hop on the school bus.
The Spokane School District and Durham School Services teamed up to implement a few free tech tools.
Durham Bus Tracker lets you enter your student’s info, routes and buses into the app so you can follow the bus route. It also includes scheduled arrival times for each stop.

ZPass is another app parents can download if their child is singed up for a ZPass card. They carry the small card with them and scan it when they get on and off the bus. The program records the time and location fo the bus and sends the information to your desktop or texts your cell phone.
Durham School Services Asst. General Manager Rhonda McLellan said ZPass has already made a difference.
“When we first put this in, we had a student that got on the wrong bus, used their card and we were able to track them,” McLellan said.
She noted that each Durham bus also has four cameras onboard.
“They’ve been a very helpful tool for parents, schools and drivers,” McLellan said.
All of these tools are part of Durham and the district’s commitment to safety, according to McLellan.
“It’s all about the safety of the students,” McLellan said. “The technology is out there and it’s available, so it’s great fo us to be able to use that.”
