Judge seals evidence in the Freeman shooting
SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) — A Spokane judge ordered video, transcripts and recordings sealed in the case of the teenager accused of shooting four classmates at Freeman High School in 2017.
Caleb Sharpe’s attorney, Bevan Maxey, filed a motion earlier this year in Spokane County Superior Court requesting certain pieces of evidence be sealed from the public. He argued they were sensational and don’t offer valuable information.
Among the evidence is the videotaped statement Sharpe made to police, the interview transcript, surveillance video, and photographs of the victims and the school hallway where the shooting happened.
Sharpe is accused of opening fire at the school Sept. 13, 2017, wounding three girls and killing classmate Sam Strahan.
He is charged with first-degree murder, attempted murder and 51 counts of second-degree assault.
