Jay-Z reportedly joins Puma as creative director
Puma announced on Monday that Jay-Z is joining the sports apparel company as creative director, according to a report from ESPN.
The rapper and business mogul’s title with the brand had initially been described as president before being clarified later in the day.
Jay-Z’s new position with Puma comes as the brand is relaunching its basketball sneaker line for the first time in 20 years.
Puma recently signed endorsement deals with Deandre Ayton, Marvin Bagley III and Zhaire Smith, all expected to be first-round picks in this week’s NBA draft. Those deals are the company’s first NBA endorsement deals in two decades.
The company also on Monday signed a lifetime contract with NBA legend Walt “Clyde” Frazier, who originally launched a namesake sneaker with the company more than 40 years ago.

Jay-Z has already had a working relationship with Puma for more than a year, according to ESPN. The brand provided Puma sneakers and apparel for his tour promoting the album “4:44” last year.
In addition, his sports agency, Roc Nation Sports, has also had clients sign Puma deals and Roc Nation client Rihanna has had a line of Puma sneakers and clothing since 2014.
