Jackson ‘Very Sorry’ For Crude Obama Comment
CHICAGO — Jesse Jackson says he’s apologized to Barack Obama’s campaign for what Jackson calls a “crude” comment made near a microphone he thought was off.
Fox News says Jackson made the comment Sunday during a live appearance on its show “Fox & Friends.” Jackson has told CNN that he was mentioning that Obama’s speeches in black churches “can come off as speaking down to black people.” He says he doesn’t remember exactly what his crude comment was, but that he is “very sorry.”
Jackson says his support for Obama’s campaign is “wide, deep and unequivocal.”
The Obama campaign says it accepts Jackson’s apology, but that Obama will continue to speak out.
