Jack Nicklaus Debuts New Sandpoint Golf Course

SANDPOINT – The man many believe is the greatest golfer of all time was near Sandpoint on Wednesday, checking out his newest course.

Jack Nicklaus played the first round at the Idaho Club, as exclusive development east of Sandpoint on the shores of Lake Pend Oreille. The golf course at the Idaho Club is the first signature golf course that Nicklaus has built in Idaho.

The course is a semi-private 18 hole layout that has numerous views of the lake. This is the type of project that Nicklaus enjoys doing, saying designing courses helps keep him close to the game he loves.

“I got involved in golf course design because I love the game of golf,” Nicklaus said at the Idaho Club’s grand opening. “It allowed me to take what I have learned, put it on a piece of ground that will last long beyond my golf game and my lifetime. I think that’s a fun thing to do.”

The Idaho Club’s Jack Nicklaus Signature Course will be fully open by mid-September.
