Israeli Military To Probe Gaza Killing Reports
JERUSALEM — The Israeli military says it has no evidence to support Israeli newspaper claims that soldiers permissively killed civilians and destroyed property in the recent Gaza war.
But it promised to investigate the reports.
The Haaretz and Maariv dailies both say an Israeli sniper killed a Palestinian woman and her two children after they misunderstood another soldier’s order and turned the wrong way.
According to the papers, the sniper wasn’t told the civilians had been released from the house where they had been confined and he opened fire when they approached him.
