Iran Not Backing Any US Candidates
TEHRAN, Iran (AP) — Iran won’t be endorsing any of the U.S. presidential candidates.
A spokesman for Iran’s Foreign Ministry says the country does hope the election will bring a change in U.S. foreign policy because he says “the nations of the world are fed up with America.”
Earlier this month, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said he wouldn’t have any problems with Democrat Barack Obama being president. He added that he thinks the real circles of power in America wouldn’t allow it.
Both Obama and Democratic rival Hillary Clinton have called for direct talks with Iran on its nuclear program, while pushing for harsher sanctions against the country.
