Illness Forces Chiefs To Postpone Games

SPOKANE — The Spokane Chiefs have cancelled their hockey games for Saturday night and Sunday night after 11 members of the team came down with a serious illness.

The team noticed something was wrong when two players showed symptoms during Friday night’s game. By Saturday morning, 11 players called in sick with the same symptoms.

The team doctor says the players are exhibiting symptoms that are consistent with food poisoning, but he says he is still not absolutely certain this is the cause.

One of the players had to go to the hospital to get IV fluids and four players had tests do to determine where the illness originated.

The Chiefs were set to play the Tri-City Americans at 7:00pm on Saturday, but that game has been rescheduled for Tuesday March 17th, and it is still going to be played in Kennewick. Also, the game that was slated to be played against the Kelowna Rockets on Sunday has been rescheduled for Monday March 16th at the Spokane Arena.

People who have tickets to the postponed games, will still be allowed into the games on the rescheduled days.
