Idaho health officials break down expectations for stage 1 of reopening

BOISE, Idaho — Idaho’s stay home order is set to expire on Friday and, at that time, the state will begin its four-stage reopening process.

Each step is set to last around two weeks and will progress to the next stage should all criteria be met and health officials believe it is safe to do so.

Stage 1 begins on May 1 and is set to continue through May 15. During this stage, youth activities, worship and childcare are set to resume with certain requirements.

Youth Activities 

Youth activities include youth day camps, childcare for working parents, youth sports, music, religious, scouting and other organized activities.

These activities do not include large events like tournaments, competitions or performances, especially those that involve overnight camps or overnight trips.

Worship

Places of worship planning to open their doors should also have an operational plan in place to mitigate the risk of spreading COVID-19. These plans do not need to be submitted for review or approval, but places of worship are encouraged to make their plans available to their congregations.

Childcare

Childcare facilities are encouraged to develop operations plans to reduce the risk of COVID-19 for employees and children.

Plans do not need to be submitted for review or approval, but must be in compliance with existing licensing requirements and available upon request. This information should also be provided to families.

Stage 2 guidance will be released at a later time. All guidance has been created by health officials and more can be found on the Panhandle Health District’s website.
