Little Pine Fire burns over quarter-mile near Sandpoint, fully contained
PRIEST RIVER, Idaho — The Little Pine Fire near Sandpoint has burned just over a quarter-mile and was fully contained as of Wednesday morning.
The fire began June 22 around seven miles north of Priest River and has burned 190 acres.
Throughout the past week, crews from the Idaho Department of Lands dealt with extreme heat, requiring increased water intake and frequent shade breaks.
The incident management team will turn command of the fire back to the local fire district early Thursday morning.
According to IDL, internal pockets of fuel will continue to burn into the future, so smoke may be visible in the area through the fall without substantial wetting rains.
