Yakima PD: 16-year-old victim dies after shooting on Eisenhower High campus

YAKIMA, Wash. — A 16-year-old boy has died from injuries he suffered during a shooting on the Eisenhower High School campus, Yakima Police said Wednesday.

Authorities have not identified the boy, but Yakima School District officials released a statement late Tuesday night confirming he was a student at Yakima Online.

In the statement, YSD Superintendent Trevor Greene said to their understanding, the 16-year-old was shot “unintentionally.”

“Our thoughts and prayers are with all families that have been impacted by this incident and the incidence of gun violence in our community, state, and nation,” Greene said.

Greene also confirmed that the 15-year-old shooting suspect arrested Tuesday is a former Yakima Online student who recently transferred to Wilson Middle School, where he attended just one day of classes.

Officials at Yakima County Juvenile Court confirmed the 15-year-old is scheduled to make a preliminary appearance in court Wednesday afternoon.
