I-90 over Snoqualmie Pass closed due to weather
UPDATE: I-90/Snoqualmie: Eastbound is open now. Westbound I-90 will re-open at 5:30. US 2 Stevens Pass is CLOSED. Troopers suggest finding an alternate route.
Due to high avalanche danger, I-90 over Snoqualmie pass was closed Thursday afternoon in both directions. US 2 Stevens Pass was also closed.
Heavy snowfall earlier in the week, combined with heavy rain, made the earlier snowfall unstable.
Avalanche control was attempted, but it didn’t bring down enough snow to make it safe for travelers.
US-2 Stevens Pass is still open, but there is heavy traffic.
Travel will be affected, both by flight and train. WSU is opening their residence halls and extending dining hours during their spring break for those who cannot travel.
