Huckabee Campaign Still Exploring Legal Options
OLYMPIA (AP) — The campaign of Republican Mike Huckabee is still exploring legal options in response to the state’s weekend caucuses.
The state’s Republican Party released additional results late Monday from last weekend’s presidential caucuses, and declared Arizona Sen. John McCain the winner once again.
But Huckabee adviser Jim Pinkerton says he doesn’t trust the results.
With 96 percent of weekend results in, state Republican Chairman Luke Esser said McCain had 3,191 precinct delegates to Mike Huckabee’s 2,898 – a difference of just 293.
Huckabee spokeswoman Alice Stewart said that the legal team will remain on the ground in Washington until “we have a full complete and transparent accounting of the caucus delegates.”
