Hospital foundation director sentenced for theft
The former executive director of an Idaho hospital foundation has been sentenced to six months in jail and must pay nearly $115,000 in restitution.
The Lewiston Tribune reports 2nd District Judge Jeff M. Brudie gave Laurie A. Rockwell a 14-year suspended prison sentence on two felony counts of grand theft.
Rockwell, the wife of Idaho County Commissioner James Rockwell, pleaded guilty in May to stealing from the Syringa General Hospital Foundation in Grangeville from January 2008 until January 2011.
The restitution amount was determined through mediation. The foundation found more than $200,000 in questionable transactions and Rockwell said she took $58,000.
She has repaid $15,000 and will make monthly payments of $500. Hospital CEO Joe Cladouhos complained that it will take Rockwell 35 years to repay her debt.
