Home Is The Airman, Home From Iraq

SPOKANE – The family of one serviceman have one more reason to celebrate this Independence Day after Eric Epperson returned home from a seven month tour of duty in Iraq Thursday.

“Excited to see him, to have him home,” Eric Epperson’s wife Jo said while she waited with her family at Spokane International Airport.

Eric Epperson, a Chief Master Sergeant in the Air Force, returned home Thursday from his second tour of duty overseas to his wife, kids and a one-year-old son Rory who he last saw when he was just five-months-old.

“Biggest thing is I can’t wait to see is his reaction to his three kids,” Jo said.

The seven months of waiting ended when Epperson walked into the terminal, his kids rushing to greet him while Jo lets them take their turn welcoming dad home.

“OK I can’t wait anymore,” Jo said in tears as she walked up to hug her husband.

Now that he’s home from overseas Eric Epperson will soon be able to trade in his Air Force fatigues for a different kind of uniform. For the last 23 years he’s also been serving the citizens of Spokane County as a sheriff’s deputy.
