Heather North, voice of Daphne, dies at 71
Heather North, the voice of Daphne Blake on TV’s animated Scooby-doo series, has died at the age of 71. Family friend Jodie Mann told The Hollywood Reporter that Heather’s death took place on November 30 after a long battle with illness at her home in Studio City, CA.
Heather first debuted as the voice of Daphne in the CBS/Hanna-Barbera Saturday morning “Scooby Doo, Where are you!” in September 1970 on the second season premiere. She continued to be the voice all the way though 2003.
In addition to her Scooby-Doo performance North also had roles in “Days of Our lives,” “Mr. Novak,” and starred alongside Kurt Russell in “The Barefoot Executive.”
Her husband, H. Wesley Kenney who died in January 2015, was the Emmy Award-winning producer and director behind every episode of the 1974 season of “All in the Family.”
According to The Hollywood Reporter, survivors include her son Kevin and daughter-in-law Stephanie; stepdaughter Nina and her husband Brent; stepson Wes and his wife Leslie and granddaughter Jocelyn. Another stepdaughter, Kara, died just a week ago.
A memorial service is set for Wednesday at 11:30 am at First Christian Church in Studio City.
