Halloween Costume Safety #1 For Firefighters
COEUR D’ALENE — As Halloween approaches parents are warned to look for a certain type of costume for their kids.
The Coeur d’Alene Fire Department is getting the word out about flame retardant costumes. Firefighters say synthetic costumes are a safety hazard because they ignite fast and burn hot.
Most costumes that are flame retardant are labeled as such, if not it’s suggested by fire departments that parents choose a different costume.
Kids should watch out for candles in brown bags that line yards and any other open flame used as a Halloween decoration.
The Coeur d’Alene Fire Department is holding a Halloween fire safety session on October 4th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Station 2, which is located along north Ramsey Road.
