Governor, Legislators, To Celebrate Oregon’s 149th Birthday

SALEM, Ore. (AP) — Happy Birthday, Oregon.

The Beaver State is 149 as of Thursday.

Governor Ted Kulongoski and legislators will gather in the Capitol Rotunda for a midday celebration.

Thomas Lauderdale of Pink Martini will play the piano and conduct the assembly in a rousing rendition of “Happy Birthday.”

The 20-minute event kicks off a 365-day countdown to Oregon’s yearlong 150th birthday party in 2009.
