Gov. Inslee issues guidance on essential workers, businesses during ‘Safe Start’ phases

OLYMPIA, Wash. — The Governor’s Office is issuing guidance on restarting businesses and rebuilding the workforce.
Washington is currently two days in to Phase One of the “Safe Start” plan, and every three weeks, the state will transition into the next phase.
Phase One only allows for low-risk higher education and workforce training for critical infrastructure.
“We need trained and skilled Washington workers now more than ever,” said Gov. Inslee. “This epidemic has reminded us that essential workers truly are essential, and we need to treat them as such by ensuring that they get the training they need to be successful and safe.”
To that end, the Governor’s Office has updated several documents:
- Approved essential programs
- Essential workforce education standards
- Commercial driver license guidelines
