‘Go Zags!’ Kraziness in the Kennel returns for another year

SPOKANE, Wash. — Kraziness in the Kennel returned to Gonzaga University. Fans were lined up around the block ready to see the GU men’s basketball team in action for the first time this season.

From students to friends and family, the community got to meet the 2022-23 Zags and see just a glimpse of what’s to come this season. From a three-point competition to a scrimmage, they saw a bit of everything ahead of another Zag basketball season.

Fans were full of energy as they waited to experience this annual tradition. With the event falling on GU’s Fall Family Weekend, crowds of families were ready to cheer on their team.

While most were cheering for the Zags, the McCloud family was ready to cheer on one of their own.

“Yes, so my brother her son was a walk-on freshman for the cheer team, first time cheering in the Kennel and we are so proud of him we are so excited,” Morgan McCloud said. “This has become a new family tradition for us, my boyfriend and alumni of Gonzaga and we’re just really excited to make this a new family tradition.”

They were over the moon excited to cheer him on as he cheers on the Zags.

“We’re so excited to watch him tumble,” Michael McCloud’s mom Maureen said. “He’s been a gymnast for twelve-fifteen years and now he’s gonna go out there and kill it for the zags. We’re so excited. Go Michael! Go Zags!”

One family even came all the way from Denver to see the Zags play. This event is just a preview of how excited Zags are for the upcoming season.
