Get your sneakers ready! Virtual Bloomsday kicks off Friday
SPOKANE, Wash. — Bloomsday 2021 officially kicks off Friday!
The race is once again “virtual,” but this year, the beloved tradition is drawing participants from all 50 states and 16 counties, truly making it “Bloomsday Worldwide.”
This year marks 45 years of the annual race and the second virtual Bloomsday. That means everyone who signs up to participate can run or walk the 7.5-mile race at their own pace and on their own time between Friday and May 9.
“The only thing that you actually need is the race numeral that you’re issued as part of the registration and that’s how you’ll enter in your finish time into the results portal,” said Race Director Jon Neill. “And you’ll receive a $10 grocery coupon from Safeway and a $10 Ace Hardware coupon, so it’s a great value.”
Runners who complete the race will receive a finisher t-shirt and just as in years past, shirts from past Bloomsdays are on display in Riverfront Park.
This year’s shirt, however, is a secret… at least for now. Finishers will get their t-shirt in the mail upon completion of the race.
If you have not signed up, but are still interested, you can register HERE.
