George, Charlotte to feature in latest royal wedding
The UK’s Prince George will be joined by his sister Princess Charlotte in official roles in the royal wedding of their cousin Princess Eugenie to Jack Brooksbank on Friday.
George, 5, who is third in line to the throne, will be a page boy and his 3-year-old sister will be one of six bridesmaids at the Windsor event, Buckingham Palace announced in an official confirmation of the bridal party on Wednesday.
George will be accompanied by 6-year-old Louis de Givenchy, the son of JP Morgan banking executive Olivier de Givenchy and his wife Zoë.
Among the other bridesmaids will be three more of Queen Elizabeth’s great-grandchildren — Savannah Phillips, 7, and her sister Isla, 6 — daughters of Princess Anne’s son Peter Phillips and his wife Autumn. Mia Tindall, 4, the child of Princess Anne’s daughter Zara Tindall, will also take on the role.
The two remaining bridesmaids will be Theodora Williams, the daughter of singer Robbie Williams and his wife Ayda Field, and Maud Windsor — Eugenie’s goddaughter, whose parents are Lord and Lady Frederick Windsor.
Pop star Williams and his wife and fellow X-Factor judge Ayda have been friends of Eugenie and her sister Beatrice for years.
Glittering guest list
Eugenie has asked Beatrice to be her maid of honor, while her husband-to-be has called upon his brother Thomas Brooksbank to be his best man.
The princess’ first cousins Lady Louise Mountbatten-Windsor, 14, and James, Viscount Severn, 10 — the children of the Earl and Countess of Wessex — will be special attendants at the wedding.
The groom works as a brand ambassador for Casamigos tequila, which was founded by actor George Clooney and Rande Gerber, the entrepreneur husband of supermodel Cindy Crawford.
The ceremony will take place at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle, exactly where the Duke and Duchess of Sussex — Prince Harry and the former Megan Markle — were married less than five months ago. While she will not attract anything like the global attention bestowed upon her cousin, Eugenie’s wedding will not be a small affair.
More than 800 guests will gather in the Gothic chapel for the ceremony at 11 a.m., which is 200 more than were invited to watch the Duke and Duchess marry.
The Queen and most of the royals are expected to attend, as well as the 28-year-old princess’ parents, the Prince Andrew, Duke of York, and Sarah, Duchess of York. The one notable absence will be that of the Duchess of Cornwall, who will instead be at a longstanding prior engagement at a school harvest festival in Scotland.
