Gas Thieves Take Off With 5,000 Gallons
MILWAUKEE — A gas station outside of Milwaukee is missing thousands of gallons of gas and the big question is – what happened to it?
The owners of the Open Pantry station in Bluemound say they were ripped off, but police aren’t so sure.
The managers say they first noticed gas was missing in July. He told police he thought someone found a way to rig the premium pumps, allowing them to get more gas than they paid for.
Now, 5,000 gallons of gas are gone and at almost $4 a gallon the loss is about $20,000.
Police say they are working the case. Meantime, the owners say they’re checking equipment to make sure it doesn’t happen again.
