G-20 Protesters Jam Downtown London, Target Banks

LONDON — Thousands of demonstrators are jamming the streets of central London to protest the G-20 summit.

Some are trying to storm the Bank of England on a day that demonstrators have branded “Financial Fools Day.”

Protesters shouting “Abolish Money” pushed against police barricades outside the Bank of England.

Many buildings in London’s financial district are boarded up and several streets have been closed. Some bankers swapped their pinstripe suits for jeans to avoid being possible targets. At least 6 people have been arrested.

Protest marches are planned throughout the day.
