Free backpacks, school supplies go out to families for The Salvation Army’s ‘Backpacks For Kids’ event
SPOKANE, Wash. — Spokane families can save time and money on back-to-school shopping this Wednesday through The Salvation Army of Spokane.
The 13th annual Backpacks For Kids event is finally here — students and their families can stop by The Salvation Army’s headquarters at 222 E Indiana Ave. for a free backpack filled with school supplies.
It will be happening between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. or until materials run out.
There will be 4,000 backpacks up for grabs.

Based on their grade level, K-12, children will be able to pick out their own appropriate backpacks.
There will also be local community vendors on-site during the day to help families with various needs.
Expecting a big turnout, you can park at Fourth Memorial Church (2000 N Standard St.) and be shuttled to the event between 8:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m.
