Four Wounded In New Jerusalem Tractor Rampage

JERUSALEM (AP) — Officials say a Palestinian attacker rammed a construction truck into a series of vehicles in busy downtown Jerusalem today, injuring four people.

Police say the man was then shot and killed by an Israeli civilian. Two other suspects apparently fled. A manhunt is under way.

The attack came near the luxury hotel where Barack Obama is supposed to stay tonight.

The violence seemed to copy an incident earlier this month in which a Palestinian plowed his front loader into a string of vehicles and pedestrians in Jerusalem. Three people died in that attack and dozens were wounded before an off-duty soldier shot the attacker.

As in the previous incident, the driver today was a Palestinian from east Jerusalem with an Israeli residence permit. Witnesses say he wore a large, white skullcap commonly worn by religious Muslims.
