Shawn Poole is running for the open mayor position in Spokane.

Former Spokane mayoral candidate Shawn Poole has endorsed Nadine Woodward for the position.

Woodward’s campaign announced the endorsement in a press release Wednesday morning.

“I had the opportunity to sit down with Nadine for a couple of hours last week, and based on this meeting I believe Nadine truly loves Spokane and wants the best for every Spokanite,” Poole said, according to the release. “Two of her top priorities are public safety and the homeless issue, both of which I have no doubt she will tackle head on.”

During the primary election, Poole received 12 percent of the vote.

Responding to the endorsement, Woodward said, “I am honored to have his trust and support as we continue to make Spokane a wonderful place to work, live and raise our families.”

His endorsement comes on the heels of others; Spokane County Sheriff Ozzie Knezovich announced his support of Woodward earlier this month. Woodward has also received endorsements from the Spokane Police Guild and Kalispel Tribe of Indians.
