Former Inland Northwest Resident Killed In Iraq
SPOKANE — A former Inland Northwest resident serving in the US Army has been killed in action in Mosul, Iraq.
Sergeant James Craig, 26, was killed by an improvised explosive device along with four of his fellow soldiers during convoy operations on January 28th in Mosul, Iraq.
Craig, who was originally from the Spokane area, was serving with the 1st Battalion, 8th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, headquartered out of Fort Carson, Colorado.
Also killed in the IED strike were Staff Sgt. Gary W. Jeffries, 37, of Roscoe, Texas, Spc. Evan A. Marshall, 21, of Athens, Ga., Pfc. Brandon A. Meyer, 20, of Orange, Calif. and Pvt. Joshua A. R. Young, 21, of Riddle, Ore.
