Former Gonzaga president Rev. Bernard Coughlin, S.J. to be celebrated at public vigil, funeral

SPOKANE, Wash. — The Gonzaga community is invited to celebrate the life of former university president Reverend Bernard Coughlin, S.J. at a public vigil and funeral.
Fr. Coughlin passed away Tuesday at the age of 97. He served as Gonzaga’s longest tenured president from 1974 to 1966, and was the first and only chancellor, serving from 1996 to 2016.
Community members are invited to attend the following services:
Visitation – Thursday, February 20
11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Della Strada Jesuit Chapel, 323 E. Boone Ave, Spokane, WA 99202
Vigil – Thursday, February 20, 2020
6:30 p.m. at St. Aloysius Church, 330 E. Boone Ave, Spokane, WA 92202
Funeral – Friday, February 21, 2020
11 a.m. at St. Aloysisus Church
Reception – To immediately follow the funeral in Cataldo’s Globe Room.
