Former Ferris High School coach indicted on sex trafficking, child porn charges
SPOKANE, Wash — A former Ferris High School football coach has been indicted in federal court on charges that include child sex trafficking, online enticement of a minor and production of child pornography.
Eglet was arrested last fall, accused of meeting young women on Snapchat and having sex with them at various locations.
The federal charges carry much more serious penalties.
According to the indictment, Eglet committed the crimes last summer.
The original charges, detailed here, said Eglet had sex with a 15-year old girl he met on Snapchat. Police said he originally pretended to be the same age and used a Snapchat geofilter to find out the girl was staying at Northern Quest. Police said he sexually assaulted her there.
The original case also indicated there may be other victims who Eglet met the same way. The federal charges pertain only to one victim. Court documents do state, though, that there are “multiple potential child victims in this case” indicating that more charges could be filed.
The victim told police Eglet took pictures and videos during the encounters.
Eglet faces six charges in federal court. If convicted of even one charge of sex trafficking, he faces up to life in prison.
In federal court this week, prosecutors asked that Eglet be held without bail pending his trial, citing a crime of violence and a serious risk that Eglet will flee. Prosecutors also noted a risk to the community if he’s released.
Eglet pleaded not guilty to the charges last week and the judge granted that he be held until his trial.
