…THE FLOOD ADVISORY FOR RAIN AND SNOWMELT REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL
1030 AM PST SATURDAY FOR WALLA WALLA AND COLUMBIA COUNTIES…
At 307 PM PST, periods of rain continue over the northern Blue
Mountains with high water levels along stream and creeks flowing out
of the Blue Mountains. The will continue overnight and mild
temperatures will allow increased snowmelt. The rain and snowmelt
will cause minor flooding in the advisory area tonight and early
Saturday. Some minor flooding is possible in the urban areas as
slush and melting snow may clog storm drains.
Some locations that will experience flooding include…
Walla Walla, Dayton, College Place, Waitsburg, Prescott, Starbuck,
Dixie, Huntsville, Wallula, Delaney, Ski Bluewood, Pleasant View,
Turner, Garrett, Touchet, Ayer, Eureka, Matthew, Lowden and
Kooskooskie.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…
Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
A Flood Advisory means river or stream flows are elevated, or ponding
of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent.
