Crews putting up signage for first phase of I-90, State Highway 41 construction
POST FALLS, Idaho — Drivers will not yet see impacts from the construction project on I-90 and State Highway 41 in Post Falls.
Traffic closures were supposed to begin on the years-long project Monday, but the Idaho Transportation Department said those will not begin until the contractor hires a traffic control supervisor.
ITD says there is no estimated time for when that will happen. In the meantime, crews are working to put up temporary signage in the area.
Once that position is filled, work will begin on reconstructing the interchange into a single-point urban interchange. When it’s done, traffic will be controlled by one signal in the center.

ITD says this project should be completed by summer 2025. In 2022, construction begins on I-90 with reconstructing ramps and building the new eastbound bridges to get on the interstate.
Over the next four seasons, construction work will shift from I-90 to SH-41 and then to Seltice Way.
Once the project starts, I-90 will be open during the day in both directions and lane restrictions in will only affect drivers at night, between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m.
