Goddard Road Fire burns 815 acres near Rice, 65% contained

RICE, Wash. — The Goddard Road Fire has burned 815 acres near Rice and is 65% contained.

Anyone living along Goddard Rd., from Orin-Rice and Goddard intersection to a road east of Scattergun Rd., and from the intersection of Goddard Rd. and Pleasant Valley to a road east of Chamberlain Rd. is under Level 2 evacuations. This means ‘be ready to leave at a moment’s notice.’

Earlier in the week, the fire jumped its containment line, which put some areas under Level 3 evacuations. However, they have since gone back to Level 2.

An evacuation center has been set up Evergreen Elementary School, located approximately one mile up Addy-Gifford road from SR-25.

One primary structure and two minor ones have been destroyed.
