Fire destroys Yakima area pallet factory
YAKIMA, Wash. — Firefighters from across the Yakima Valley are battling a massive two-alarm fire at a pallet factory in Gleed, just outside of Yakima.
Fed in part by stacks of flaming wood pallets, the fire’s glow could be seen for miles as smoke drifted east across the Valley into Yakima.
Officials tell KAPP/KVEW the fire began around 9:30 p.m. Wednesday and they don’t expect to have it fully contained until Thursday afternoon.
Firefighters won’t say what caused the fire at Universal Forest Products’ pallet factory.
