SPOKANE CO., Wash. — The Cheney Complex Fire was fully contained Sunday morning. Authorities said 171 combined acres were burned.
The Cheney Complex Fire was made up of four fires burning in the Cheney area, including the 104-acre Graham Fire, the 10-acre Grogan Fire, the 21-acre Lake Badger Fire and the 16-acre Badger fire.
All evacuations have been lifted.
Close to 200 fire personnel from several agencies have been working to protect homes and get the fire under control. Crews have completed burnout operations and all fires in the complex have been 100 percent lined. Washington State Patrol Trooper Jeff Sevigney, who is handling media operations for the fire, said the complex is expected to be completely contained by Sunday.
Firefighters said the fires were caused by lightning strikes during Tuesday night’s storm.
