Finding JonBenet’s Killer Remains ‘Final Goal’
BOULDER, Colo. — Ramsey family members say they’re hoping the killer of JonBenet Ramsey can be found, now that new DNA evidence has officially cleared her parents of suspicion.
Evidence taken from the girl’s body points to someone else. Investigators don’t know who, but they’re hoping a match will turn up in the ever-expanding national DNA database. It contains more than 5 million DNA profiles, but that won’t mean anything if whoever killed the 6-year-old back in 1996 isn’t in the database.
A prosecutor says the presence of the same male DNA in three places on the girl’s clothing convinced investigators it belonged to JonBenet’s killer, and wasn’t left accidentally by an innocent party.
