Female Suicide Bomber Kills 4 In Diyala Province

BAGHDAD (AP) — A sheik who headed a group of Sunni fighters who had turned against al-Qaida has been killed in his home by a female suicide bomber.

In addition to the sheik, his 24-year-old cousin, five-year-old niece and a security guard died after the Diyala province blast northeast of Baghdad.

No one has claimed responsibility, but al-Qaida has been targeting Sunni Arabs who have joined the fight against the militants.

The sheik’s brother claims he witnessed the attack and says the woman had visited the sheik Sunday and was asked to return Monday. He says the bomber blew herself up once she got close to the leader.
