Fatal wrong-way crash on Highway 520 in Seattle

A Seattle woman was killed in a crash with a wrong-way driver Thursday on Highway 520 near the University of Washington.

Washington State Patrol Sgt. John Sager says a man in an SUV was driving westbound in the eastbound lanes about 5:30 a.m. when he hit the woman’s car head-on.

Firefighters had to cut her out of the wreckage. She was taken to Harborview Medical Center where she died. She’s identified by the patrol as 58-year-old Morgan F. Williams.

The man was taken to the hospital with a leg injury. Sager says he’s believed to have been drinking and was arrested for investigation of vehicular assault. He’s identified at 25-year-old Michael A. Robertson of Tacoma.

Sager says he apparently made a U-turn on the highway.
