Family’s dog and cat die in early morning Spokane Valley apartment fire

SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. — Firefighters extinguished a fire at a Spokane Valley apartment complex on Saturday morning that killed a family’s dog and cat.
Spokane Valley Fire said over 20 units responded to the fire shortly after 3 a.m. at the apartments at 12623 E. Broadway.
Once there, they searched all floors of the complex.
It took roughly 40 minutes to contain the fire, Spokane Valley Fire said. Fortunately, no people were injured, but firefighters were sad to report a dog and cat died.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
