Fairchild Airman Arrested In Internet Sex Sting

SPOKANE — A Fairchild enlisted man has been arrested after he was caught in an Internet sting allegedly surfing the web for sex with a teenage girl.

An internet sting busted Air Force Staff Sergeant Joshua O’Farrell for allegedly using his web camera to set up sex with a undercover cop he thought was a 15-year old girl. Court documents allege O’Farrell thought he was chatting with a 15-year-old girl named Ashley but it was really a female detective with the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office in Oregon.

Airway Heights police arrested O’Farrell at his home Tuesday on four counts of communicating with a minor for immoral purposes. Court documents claim he chatted at least six times with the undercover cop and talked about meeting up with the girl and having sex at a hotel.

Authorities say O’Farrell’s alleged actions turned illegal when he appeared naked and performing lewd acts on his web camera for the undercover detective he thought was a teenage girl.

Police Chief Lee Bennett says the detective told O’Farrell three times that she was only 15 but he continued the sexually charged chat and web camera display. Bennett added that O’Farrell admitted to having online affairs in the past but said he didn’t remember ever contacting underage girls.

O’Farrell, a member of the Joint Personnel Recovery Agency, has been temporarily relieved of his duties with the Air Force.

A judge released him on his own recognizance following O’Farrell’s initial court appearance.
