Escaped inmate located and taken into custody
TACOMA, Wash. — Steven D. Roche, an escapee from Yakima County Corrections Center, has been taken into custody.
Roche was arrested around 3 a.m. Wednesday morning in the Tacoma-Olympia area by members of the Pacific Northwest Violent Offender Task Force.
After receiving tips from the public on Roche’s location, members of the task force set up surveillance at a hotel and he was subsequently taken into custody.
On April 4, Steven D. Roche and Chad E. Tipton escaped from the Yakima County Correctional Center, where they were being held for the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office.
Tipton was recaptured on April 8, but Roche was still at large.
A cash award for information about Roche’s whereabouts was offered through Crime Stoppers of the Inland Northwest.
