Elderly woman rescued near 49 Degrees North Ski Resort

CHEWELAH, Wash. — A 79-year-old woman was rescued in Stevens County after being missing for more than 13 hours.
The Stevens County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a missing woman near Crest Road, near the 49 Degrees North Ski Resort at around 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
Deputies and Stevens County Search and Rescue began searching the area. The search was suspended on Monday and resumed Tuesday morning.
Spokane County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue and Air 1 assisted in the search on Tuesday and located the woman around 10:30 a.m.
With help from the Department of Natural Resources firefighters, the woman was extracted from steep terrain. She sustained minor injuries.
The Stevens County Sheriff’s Office thanked the responding agencies for their help in rescuing the woman.
