Elderly Man Found Guilty In Studio K Shootings

SPOKANE — After a hung jury at his first trial, Norman Roberts has been found guilty of 1st degree murder and 1st degree assault in the Studio K shootings from March 2007.

The jury, which received the case early Tuesday afternoon, deliberated for less than 24 hours before reaching a guilty verdict on both counts.

Roberts, 73, was in his apartment located below the Studio K bar on the night of March 6, 2007 when he opened fire with a .22 caliber pistol on several other people in his residence. Ken Conklin was shot and killed while Thomas Darco was seriously injured.

His first trial last November resulted in a hung jury.
