Sheriff’s deputies confirm an elderly couple have been found dead from gunshot wounds in their Spokane Valley home. Their deaths are being investigated as a murder suicide.
The couple was found in their home in the 10300 block of E. 48th by their daughter Friday afternoon. Police found the 78 year old woman in her bed and her 71 year old husband was in a chair. A pistol was found near the husband’s body. Their financial papers were laid out, but a suicide note was not found.
Their daughter said that her mother suffered from Alzheimer’s Disease and required around-the-clock care. Her father was taking care of her and she often stopped by the house to give him a break. The daughter also said that she had spoken with her father Thursday night and everything seemed fine.
The couple’s next door neighbors said that the couple was wonderful, they were involved in community events and seemed to get along well.
