Eastern State Hospital donates over 300 stuffed animals to SPD Chaplaincy to help children with trauma
SPOKANE, Wash. — In remembrance of Kassie Dewey and support of her daughter, Eastern State Hospital donated 306 stuffed animals to the SPD Chaplaincy to help children going through trauma.
Dewey was murdered and her daughter was severely injured in a stabbing in their garage last April.
She was an employee at the hospital and DSHS employees across the state purchased the stuffed animals in her name. The daughter’s step-dad and her two older siblings at the event to help present the donation.
SPD said patrol officers and Chaplains will give stuffed animals to children going through a difficult time due to domestic violence, loss of a family member or some form of emotional trauma.
