Drunk driver hits gas line in Lewiston
LEWISTON, Idaho — A man driving under the influence lost control of his car Wednesday night and hit a natural gas line on Gun Club Road.
The Nez Perce County Sheriff’s Office says deputies responded to the crash at 9:19 p.m. Driver Devin Villopoto told them he turned onto Gun Club Rd. from Lapwai Rd. “going faster than he should have been.”
Villopoto said he lost control of his white Subaru Forester, causing it to go into a ditch and his the gas line. NPCSO says the natural gas was being released so Avista was called to the scene. The road was blocked while repairs were made.
Villopoto was arrested for driving under influence.
